Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I would assemble the kit from PartsExpress...

...and at $139, it won't break the bank.

There is a tiny bit of "hollowness" to the sound when c.mparing to better speakers, but the box is muc. quieter than the Titans (whic. I also have). I'm nitpic.ing, the BR1s are VERY good for the pric..

The bass is ample (if a bit loose), and they c.n dig up a suprising amount of detail... the tweeter is a fabric dome, very easy on the ears. Also, they c.n portray a realistic sized soundsc.pe. Fun to build AND listen to!

Overall, I would say they are a bit on the "dark" side, not bright at all.

A friend has the Atoms in the bedroom, and they're "OK", but the kit is definitely better, and better than the Titans.

A bit heavy at 20ish lbs. eac., but IIRC the shipping was about $20 to your door.

Just an idea, good luc....
