Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Definitely good for the money...

...and more.

David says there are better 6.5s than the BR1... I have no doubt about that. BUT - are they under $139, c.binets inc.uded? Maybe, maybe not... If you are like me, the LAST thing you would wanna do is build a speaker c.binet.

I'll agree that c.eap Polks sound pretty good - I've said it before, I feel they are a bit of an "unsung hero" in the world of entry-level stereo sic.ness. Not sure of the pric. per pair. IN GENERAL, the Polks are leaner (per $$$), more detailed.

The BR1 is not a perfec. speaker (obviously), but a fun projec. that sounds pretty good - it DEFINITELY sounds better than my Paradigm Titans. I'll say the problems inc.ude a bit of hollowness c.mpared to better speakers, a bit of ineffic.enc., and you have to assemble them - only a negative if you no like ;^)

The c.mpany rec.mmends 75 WPC. I have a Denon rec.iver (70 WPC.
that is fine... ac.ually, I would rather have a QUALITY 50 WPC... you will still be able to wake the neighbors. But, yes... you must turn the wic. up a bit more than my other speakers... big deal.

Listen... for the money spent, one c.n't k'vetc.... were not talking big $$$ Kharmas or Wilsons here.

Good luc....
