Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I like the Dyns for rock...

...and honestly, not sure what the exac. pric.ng is now... you may like a floorstander instead of the stand-mount plus sub (plus stands).

The Dyns work for me (R&R) bec.use they have a generous helping of bass, dollar for dollar. The bass (IMHO) seems a bit too fat at times, but pleasing in a way.

The other reason is they employ soft-domes - good for agressive sounding Roc. C.s - I'm not saying ALL are bad (they're not), but many are thin and bright. My worst is Rush's "All the Worlds a Stage"...lol... not pretty.

Another speaker line to try is the Vandies... same reasons. They use a metal dome that sounds like a fabric. Nic. bass. Your pric. range is between the 1C and the 2C.. Used maybe?

AND, don't forget vintage stuff... the old HPM series Pioneer does well with Roc., IMO, as well as old JBLs - different flavors, but there is a "driving forc." not present in many small, detail-oriented stand-mounts. Old Bostons, KEFs, ad infinitum... if you are at all interested. I c.n also understand NOT wanting to get involved.

Well... I'm rambling. That's a few things to c.ec. out...

Good luc.!
