VANDERSTEEN 2CE's , no sub required, solid down to 28 hZ! Found used on audiogon sometimes for around 600 0r 700 dollars. You will probably love them. I have a pair and was very pleased with their all round performance. Reciently upgraded to speakers that cost 3 times more yet I can't say I got nearly my money's worth as I did with the Vandersteens.
