Re: Comparisons bet. CDM 1NT and Concertino Home

If you love violin (and in general, acoustic) music, Sonus fabers really do it very well.

The 1NT IS polite (and more refined) compared to its predecessor, the celebrated and over rated CDM1. Also, the Hifi Choice people might be describing the 1NT in biwired configuration. The stock biwire jumpers of B&Ws, just like the stock biwire jumpers of Sonus faber and almost every biwireable speaker out there totally suck. They make the highs brittle and edgy, making it sound subjectively louder and more accentuated tha they should have been. If you havent tried it, do try to listen to your B&Ws biwired.

I think you will be amused but when you do get the elusive "more complete" treble with its harmonics ... as a typical result of biwiring (or elimination of the biwire terminal altogether) ... the treble actually sound subjectively softer, smoother, richer, thicker and more refined, less emphatic such that you wont even think it exists ... which is how it should be in the first place. :-)
