Re: Are transmission line enclosures "slow"?

I couldn't agree more.
I just listened to some big Wilson's today. Even fronted by Levinson mono- blocks and playing vinyl, the bass sounds muddy and non descript.I couldn't hear the bass drum from the bass guitar, just one big boomy thuddy mush, no definition good power though.
I get much more bass definition with my TLs using 5" focal woof-mids. I may not get the size or impact, but the definition is remarkable. I guess that's why I have listened to TL's for the last 12 years.
We have also built a version of the Ariel using 6" Eton's and Esotar tweets. These do sound big, fast and detailed.
I am playing these on a 20W. amp and they play loud too, when needed either by Ludwig or Lennon or Basie.
Oh yea, thanks to Clayton for the papers. We are having fun now.
Later D.
