I couldn't disagree with that statement more strenuously. First, there is the typical implied condescension of rock music, as if it doesn't deserve to be played through audiophile-quality components. Second, I've heard a wide variety of music through the Vandersteens, including the dynamic, drum-heavy Blue Man Group's "Audio" and the Sheffield Lab's live-to-two-track drum record, and the Vandersteens were clearly up to the task, producing wide dynamics in a convincing sound stage. Most people say that rock music is merely the reproduction of someone banging on a drum. Well if the Vandersteen's can handle that, they can competently reproduce rock music.
