crap will sound like crap through them, they are just not in your face therefore crap is kept out of your face. You can definitely hear bad components and cables through these things. Before you leap and buy a pair of 3A sigs listen to them carefully. If you are looking for that rock concert sound, than do not make the trip, if you are a jazz club, chamber music, concert hall guy, by all means do yourself a favor. Bi-wire is a must, biamping is better. The X150 will have all you need to drive them well. You may want to rethink the preamp in the future, based on the cards i see there is an X1 or god forbig an x0.2 in you future :^)
Good news is that there are a number of used 3A sigs on the market in the $2.5k range.
