Thank you for your response. I do realize what I said and it is the basis of my problem. If it was a matter of a couple of tweaks, I wouldn't be worried. But the fact that I find myself biting my fingernails after 5 minutes of listening is a concern.I have experimented with positioning, room treatments, isolation devices: cones, vibrapods, etc... to no avail. I keep reading many who say they think b&w is analytical and forward and Vandys are musical and forgiving. Therefore, I have drawn a conclusion that maybe the character of the 804s is not for me.
On the flipside, I want to give in to your analysis. Last thing I want to do is get rid of these gorgeous speakers--and to think that I could only be a couple of tweaks away!?? I really don't want to be one those audiophiles obsessively and endlessly looking for nirvana--I just want to listen to my music without feeling paranoid. Thanks again for responding...I will strongly consider what you said.
Regards,
kg
