What Nautilus speakers (and Krell electronics) demonstrate to me, to paraphrase you a little, is that making components is an art or craft, not an exercise in pure engineering. I own living proof that componants can be built that "enable" mediochre recordings without compromising good ones. I haven't a clue how you do this, which is why I'm an educational fund-raiser and not Gilbert Yeung or Julian Verecker. I know, I know, Mr. Lamm claims to do it all with ear muffs on. But Beethoven did that too, so don't tell me it's just engineering.Actually, to return to the subject, the Nautilus 801's don't sound bad, compared with the other Nautilae, especially in a small room (?!)
