And I seem to recall Holt essentially saying that "accurate" can sometime mean that the occasional *bite* will ensue.

Because, real instruments can sound very dynamic as well as smooth, and because good recordings are revealing ones. Let us remember though that "revealing" is not exactly the same thing as "bright" and that some audiophiles have a tendency to confuse these two terms. A "revealing" system does not have to sound excessively "bright".

Some listeners might describe a decently "revealing" system as, "A system that has good *inner detail* without excessive brightness.". I prefer to say that a good system simply has good *dynamic capabilities*, but to each his (or her) own...
