There is a thread at Parts Express and Madisound on this, a couple of months ago. The US Morel is owned by a guy named Shabani, check last year's PE cat for a Shabani series tweeter. I guess the deal is that the US company is manufacturing their own cuz they claimed quality control issues were being ignored by the parent company, therefore they are not in violation of the patent because they make a better driver. Many moons ago Fender sued Tokai because they were making a Strat copy. Here's the rub, Fender lost because the copy was a better Strat. Go figure. For you history buffs, is why there were no US fighters in WW1. The Wright Bros were demanding a 20% royalty on every aircraft made in the US that had some method of controlling roll. (well, world but it was unenforcable). They were at war with Glen Curtiss, who lost the first round. Henry Ford offered him his lawyers, when a judge tossed it all out in the name of national security. The two most qualified firms were at each other's throats for years, then Wright sold out to Curtiss anyway. Oh, PE claims to buy their Morel "from a legitmate source" and refused to elaborate further.
