Might depend on what kind of music someone is into?

A midbass hump could be an "alternative" (compromised?) version of properly implemented baffle step compensation - perhaps easier or more cost effective to carry out...

Room interaction is a factor, so whether a person likes/dislikes this approach might have to do with placement in the room.
