RE: Some older Wilsons and Magnepans had midbass humps. People seemed to liked it...

Perhaps the most famous speaker with a hump albeit around 90 to 100 Hz is the LS3/5a which was put there deliberately by the BBC. The LS3/5a rolls of at best around 70 Hz and if they had designed it with tight bass it would have sounded unnaturally thin. Add that the BBC was most concerned with the mid range and voice ranges they felt this was a good compromise.
