Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Seems it's not uncommon...

Wouldn't pronouncing the mid-bass make the lack of lower bass even more prominent?

The trouble with baffle step compensation is the designer has to make assumptions about the boundaries in the listening room. Putting a speaker directly against the wall versus three feet out into the room practically requires changes to the crossover.

True bookshelves out in the room will sound lacking in the bass, and BSC compensated stand-mounts will likely be quite bass heavy against the wall.

Some folks have limited depth in their rooms and cannot afford the three feet behind the speakers. WAF is also a factor.

Well, not for me. Anymore.

Silver linings gentlemen, silver linings. :-)

Cheers,
Presto
