Exactly my point. A hall designed to give 1752 or 2522 attendees a reasonably enjoyable experience is a compromise.

If a sound engineer was tasked with building the ideal soundstage on which to record an orchestra, the first thing he or she would do is cross off the need to seat a few thousand people. Unless, of course, the idea is to recreate the sound of being in that specific hall, in which case you'd start with simulating the experience from this theoretical "best seat in the house" - which is invariably somewhere in the middle, so many rows back.
