RE: How do you measure a speaker cones surface area?

For an acoustic view, it is the area but not the surface area of the cone itself.
The normal rule would be to measure the diameter at about the mid point of the edge suspension and figure that equivalent piston area. This way a deep cone and flat cone of the same diameter both have the same piston displacement.
