RE: Rare but can be done

Well, I didn't include kits because I thought we were only referring to commercially produced / retail. But sure, kits can be insanely good value.

I still run my good old Vifa PL17 / D25AG35 2-ways designed by John Kreskovsky through the regular speaker rotation - and they do so many things very very well. Jeff B here, and John Krutke, and many others have produced so many DIY designs free for use...

Yes, if a person has a wood shop (or friend with one) they can get into $10K speaker territory for a few thousand. If not, then getting the pre-fabricated box parts along with the electronic components is the way to go.

Never did spring for the boxes myself... maybe one day if the router dies! :-)

It's also nice to have a reference speaker voiced by someone with provided measurements that can be compared to the final result after assembly...

I have the components to put a Zaph ZR-71 together here... always wanted to hear how Zaph voiced that design. SUMMER PROJECT ALERT.
