The Linkwitz woofers are dipole. The only way to get deep bass from a dipole because of front to back cancellation from all dipole bass designs is to add bass boost(equalization). Plus no drivers look very nice on their own. All well designed speakers, both active and passive use equalization in their crossovers to make the drivers look nicer before actually adding the high pass and low pass crossovers. And Linkwitz was an excellent crossover designer.
