Yes, a home demo must be arranged for any costly speaker, unless bought used in the knowledge that they could be resold if unsatisfactory.
I bought a pair of new Martin Logan 13As after reading great reviews and a good showroom demo, but despite having heard good sounds from Quad 2912s (bought used to see if I liked els speakers), the MLs were a real disappointment in my room, despite the efforts of Anthem to resolve matters. I had to sell these new speakers (big loss) and keep my 17 year old AG Unos, until I found a lovely pair of used Duos.
Speakers MUST be tried at home before purchase and even amps if bought new. I got burned with an amp purchase after a fellow AG owner was raving about it, but it turn out drearily dull, despite its several nice features.
