Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Horns

Brad - I'm with your there. As I said before, the dissipation of heat need not be a problem, but of course there's much more to dissipate if a driver needs to be fed by a powerful amp. ATC has been at this game long enough to get things right for their speaker designs. It's the presentation of sound by studio monitors that disappoints me compared with a few first-class domestic speakers, as I'm looking less for measured accuracy than the exciting delivery that a few other designs can achieve. PS - This thread is about the suitability of the 50 Active for home use and I have suggested caution in making this decision. I further suggested that the 40 may be a better choice, as I believe it was originally designed for home use - there is no 40 in the Pro range. That speakers also receives great reviews. If he wants something bigger than the 40, perhaps he should look towards other brands if he wants the excitement factor that some of these brands can offer - or add a sub or two to the 40, although I'm not a sub fan myself.
