Your insight has a place all of our audio purchases, chasing rare/cherished and willing to pay is a cornerstone of the hobby.
But L-100 are not actually rare as production numbers were huge and the sales network was vast.
So the puzzle still remains for me, who is this large passionate buying segment. I don't see them in my generations houses and they are too costly for dudes garage tune and young hipsters.
I was not familiar with the Athena model and I might understand the appeal. I've been seduced by the large format, paper based (Aquaplas in this case) two way on multiple occasions. Uncertain if this combo is hit or miss but it would be interesting to hear it.
