Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Thanks for the comments

Concrete is not as obvious a good cabinet material as it seems. Like everything it too resonates. In the 70s, John Crabbe, then the editor of Hi Fi News in England built large bass horns into his home(they are still there) and when he started to use them found he had to reinforce them. They vibrated too much.

Everything resonates some where and the bandwidth of sound for human beings spreads ove about 10 octaves. Finding a material that's good for speaker cabinets that's reasonable to work with and reasonable cost wise is not that simple.
