I recall that my first real high-end loudspeakers, Spendor SP-1s, were not three-ways, but rather two-ways with a supertweeter, reputedly because the SP-1 was an improvement over the BBC BC-1.
Apparently, that supertweeter was in production as recently as 2020, and there is still stock available (am I a nerd, or what???).
So, I can only assume that Harbeth thinks that if they redesigned the SHL5 with modern drivers as a two-way, they would sell fewer of them.
Why? Because too many customers "listen with their eyes." (Or, with their inflated "intellects.")
ciao,
john
