Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I wonder if it's possible to know exactly what is creating that "fine detail and nuance"

To what degree might it be due to the incredible lightness of the drivers ? Or, to what degree might it be due to dipole dispersion characteristics ?

Quads and electrostatic speakers and headphones in general are often noted for their fine production (reproduction?) of detailed spatial cues. But I'm not sure that anyone has ever adequately explained all of the reason(s) "why" this might be.

Is it all (or partly) due to the "incredible lightness" of the membrane ?

Or is it all (or partly) due to the nature of dipole sound ?

Is the perception of fine "detail" an artifact of the speakers themselves or are the speakers simply better than other types of speakers at *retreiving* fine details from recordings ?

Not sure that anyone knows the answers to these questions but if you are enjoying the speakers I hope you will continue to do so for a very long time. They are undoubtedly very fine speakers.
