Acceleration is driven by power to weight ratio and the power of the magnetic field is way higher than the force of the magnets of a planar or electric field of an electrostatic. And this is especially true if as in some planars the magnetic force is only single ended.
I believe deceleration, damping of a driver is extremely important in fidelity and often the weak point in a speaker. But do remember the force accelerating the driver is still controlling the driver as it decelerates and helps there too. And the stronger the force the better it controls the decay.
