Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I deal with a variety of such issues in my soon-to-be-published review...

GOOD CATCH ON THE LOWER MIDRANGE, (UPPER BASS)!

NB: That graph is of the woofer in a standard baffle board only, for standardized measurements. The woofer is not in a box, in other words.

Yup, I heard that little blip in Frank Sinatra's chest-cavity resonances. So I went looking for a cause. I think the fact that at that little hump, all three of on-axis, 30 degrees, and 60 degrees responses all line up perfectly superimposed together probably means that the room (and, almost any room) is uniquely excited exactly there.

And the setup also almost doubtless was a contributing factor.

30 years ago, I was in a grandiose 1886 Gilded Age mansion (rented) with a large listening room that impressed JA. But now I am in a little cottage with a living room well suited for LS3/5As.
