That's kinda high to cross to a tweeter. The midbass driver will be fairly beamy at that frequency, with a dip in the off-axis response followed by a flare as the tweeter rolls in.
Unless you place these right up against a wall, the lack of BSC will make the bass sound lean and the midrange shouty.
Better than adding BSC would be to use a second midbass driver in a 2.5 way configuration. Not necessarily a second Purifi, but something with similar response below 500Hz. Will require a gutsy amp to drive the lower impedance, but will not sacrifice sensitivity, which looks to be only about 84dB to start with.
Since you've got me fantasizing, I'm thinking the Purifi unit might make a wonderful midrange driver in a 3-way system, covering maybe 200Hz to 2kHz.
Anyway, I look forward to your sonic impressions of the Purifi. It looks like one of the more innovative drivers of recent years.
