RE: For me, it's not worth the trouble and expense

I recall the old IMF monitors 0f the early 70's that were covered in Formica but with it glued on with a glue that never got totally hard resulting in constrained layer damping. I you don't need a veneer finish that seems like a good way to finish a wood cabinet and also get a quiet cabinet.
