The 2 biggest flaws of the LS3/5a are it's bumped up bass to help balance the over all speaker response since it doesn't go low enough to maintain balance otherwise. But the price is sloppy mid bass, a flaw I badly dislike. But even more importantly is its lack of dynamic linearity. It compresses almost every loudness change from small ones to very loud ones. This makes it sort of a beautiful, wide band radio, not a great modern speaker that with a great recording can once in a while make you suspend belief and sound almost like live sound.
