To each his own, but I prefer real wood finished speakers showing the beauty of the grain. To me the worst finishes are the Piano Black shiny plastic looking thingies. I purposely , stained my Darker so that the grain of the wood would show up.No, Oak is not my favorite, I would probably have preferred Rosewood or Walnut. I have even mentioned this to Danny, but I don't think he's got a supplier for these other woods. And he would have had to charge more, but I would have paid.
