I just stumbled onto your site because I have revived my interst in vintage audio hardware. I still own my original Eico ST-40 amp. I am currently negotiating for an AR XA turntable with a Pickering cartridge. Add the Scott FM tuner, the Akai reel-to-reel recorder, and last but not least my Hartley 12" triaxial speakers mounted in a Karlsen Base Reflex Enclosure which I built myself, this constituted my first "real" stereo system.I was introduced to this fantastic world by the foreman at my first job(lumper in a machine shop), who had just finished building his wife's electronic organ. To properly mount it he had a solid concrete base poured in the center of his cellar. He then bought 2 old office safes. This was when AR and infinite baffles systems were the last word in speaker technology. He then proceeded to mount a 12" Hartley in the door of each safe. His bass was provided by a 15" Stevens mounted in the door of a closet.
