All I can say is that I'm in Australia and while I was familiar with AR3as, large Advents, and the like back in the late 60s/early 70s here in Australia, I never saw amps like the "Dyna / Eico / Scott / Fisher stuff" that you mention around in Australia at that time, or since for that matter, and it's only in very recent years that I've seen and heard McIntosh gear here in Australia.

My experience of those speakers back in those days was with SS amps like the AR and the Haflers.

I guess my nostalgia must seem slightly odd to you as a result :-)
