I did something similar a couple of days ago. I bought a pair of Boston Acoustics A150s and set them in the basement room. They are at present being driven my my old Marantz 1070 (35 wpc) integrated amp. Your description of the sound of your ARs is dead on for these speakers also (Was that typical of that "New England Sound" of the 70's and early 80's?). I will follow the sugestions for an appropriate amplifier from the "inmates" and spend the Christmas break experimenting with different speaker positions. I am also spending more time in the Vintage asylum.
