Well, since everyone's responding to the thread here rather than the re-post in the Vintage Asylum, I'll post again here.I'm running my Tannoy Berkeleys (15" HPD385A)with a Fisher SA-16 amplifier to great results. The only weakness in this system at the moment is the Marantz 3200 pre-amp, which I'm looking into better options to suit the Fisher.
Off and on, before I got this tube amp, I did have some success with the little Sonic Impact. There were a few problems that might bug you with it, it ran out of gas a bit too soon, the highs were a bit coarse, and it had a severe bass fall-off below about 80 Hz. With modifications, this might become a workable option.
