Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Yes...absolutely

I initially ordered the tall Micro Walsh based on the size of the room I anticipated being in. A couple additions to the family necessitated a change to a room about 50% larger, so I sent returned them for the Walsh 100 MkII.

The Micros are excellent and for only $1000, a great deal. It's hard to imagine how much sound these put out for such a seemingly small driver, but they do well. Coupling that with their essentially full-range and omni-directional presentation, their sound is both linear and room-filling. IMO, their greatest attribute is the ability to play all types of music equally well. This has been an issue I had up until getting the Ohms. One speaker would do rock and jazz well, but no hot with small emsemble and vice versa. I liked full-range drivers (Loth-X, Lamhorn, Omega), but the bass really lacked sufficient weight. The Micors do an honest 45 Hz and the 100s even lower. I did not notice any lack of high frequency extension either.

I've had about 30 pairs of speakers in my place and the Ohms really do it for me.
