Long ago I used Levinson ML-2s (25wpc) to drive BC1s. It works but is probably near the minimum. This is not a case where you can reasonably argue that a 12 watt SET has just as much drive as the SS ML-2s. The BC1s will not play really loud without coughing a driver anyway, the 55 watts power handling spec is there for a reason.
