Its funny you mention Leica cameras.Back when I was in high school, I took a photography class and I really got into it. Of course, all the other kids had their Olympus OM-1's and Pentax ME Supers and so forth. So I bugged my grandfather to get my a new camera for my birthday since he had been into photography many years ago, and I figured that he could appreciate my circumstances.
When I graduated high school I was still into photography, so my grandfather gave me a bunch of really old-looking equipment. I was non-plussed to say the least, since it wasnt the new equipment that all my friends had. The stuff he gave me was all mint, three or four camera bodies, and assortment of lenses, and even a couple of those old large format cameras. He had bought all of the stuff in Germany and Eastern Europe after the war.
I don't even remember what I did with it - I might have even given it away. I never thought much about it until one day a few years ago when I was looking in the back of Photography Today at how much they wanted for used Leica's. I nearly cried.
