Yeah, you know that was a little off the cuff. Been SO long since I heard Quads. I like the concept. I actually think that a slightly laid back or polite speaker is a good thing for rock. Heresy maybe, but Quads and a good sealed sub or two might do nicely for modest levels. I don't care for maggies or various other 'stats and planars I've heard. Too wimpy. Just IMHO.

The Eico leans toward a 'SS' sort of sound, btw. IE, very clear and hifi and not 'warm and tubey' at all, but with the non-grainy mids and highs you'd expect from a good tube unit. So I'd recommend something with a warm sound and fairly wide baffle, rather than the currently fashionable bright sounding skinny speakers with poor power response.
