But if we did not have that pesky music playing, eveything would be perfect! Low low noise floor, now boomy lows or screetchy highs, no concerns over break in even ....Actually, I would not even put s/w to h/w cost as a measure, especially as mentioned that used vinyl is so cheap, and even music on the radio is free. A meaningful measure to me would be what percentage of available time do we listen to the music? I add "available" because I live in a real world with other obligations as well. What's the point of a 10k system and 5000 LPs if they do no more than collect dust? Spend what you need to to make you happy, both hardware and software, and then enjoy the music.
