RE: PSB to PSB or Silverline?

After spending quite a bit of time looking at Silverline reviews (which are almost all very good, with a few exceptions), I have one major concern. There is no way to audition before purchasing, and there are no returns. A review I just read on the Preludes (1 and 2) issued that very reminder: Listen before you buy (it was a great review for the speakers, but just the usual disclaimer since we all have differing tastes -- it was in no way a warning that the speakers were not excellent). Silverline's policy is "Buy with confidence" -- but that gives me less confidence.

I suspect that I would probably enjoy the sound of the Minuet Supreme Plus speakers well over my Alpha B1's, given they are in a higher league. And the Minuets look superb -- like high-end furniture. I also like the thought of that excellent mid-range.

But I'm concerned the super-small woofer would leave me wanting, even with a subwoofer. When it comes to my Alpha B1's (which are certainly not full of low bass), they produce enough mid-bass that I appreciate what they can do before the lower-end gets tasked to the subwoofer. Can the Minuets (and Imagine Mini's, for that matter), produce the same spectrum with the double magnet structure, at least as the cheaper B1's? They are *rated* as low (or lower) than the Alpha B1's, but I don't know how that rating translates to perceived sound.

Thanks again!
