Do you need a speaker for your tube amp? Or,the other way around?

You stated that you will not be able to center them (I guess you meant the speakers) between the walls. Placement is critical for the Vandersteens. If you love Vandies, just move some things around and get the Vandies.

If you already have the 40-50 watt tube amp, you can get the 1C and get the most out of your amp. Almost any tube amp will drive the 1C. But if you don't have the amp yet and are looking around, you can still try to get a tube amp that will drive either the 2CE Signatures or the newest ones if you got more money, the 2CE Sigs IIs. This includes the 3As which are 88dB and more efficient than the 2CE Sigs.

If you need suggestions for tube integrated amps for the 2CE Sigs, try the Jolida 502, 801, or Rogue Cronus will drive the 2CE Sigs really well!

If you are more about just having the 2Ce Sigs or 3As and like to rock and roll (and do not have to have a tube amp), then just give the Vandies what they want: 100 wpc or more of solid state power!! ie. Mccormack DNA .5 Deluxe, DNA 125 and a no nonsense tube pre (like the Quicksilver linestage) or any of these workhorse amps that the others mentioned, even the Panache will all work great.

JD202 with 2CE Sigs? You must be joking. The 1C would be fine with the JD202. Even better if you find one, the ASL 1003DT has 30 watt Class A and a remote with better transformers.

If you really want another speaker but not too far from the Vandies, then the PSB Alpha B1 with good sub may remind you of a Vandersteen 1C.

Friend, you need to decide if it is about an amp for your speakers or a speaker for your amp and take it from there.
