General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Questions...

I've also got these 2 speakers, the Atom v5 and Alpha B1, and much like Paul says, the PSB has a lot of bass bloom, giving the listener an impression that he is listening to larger speakers, there is also more slam with the PSB, and I find they play a bit louder before they lose their composure. The Atom, on the other hand, has a clean clear voice presentation, that when you do switch back to the PSB, the Alpha does indeed sound veilled. I also feel that the tweeter in the Alpha is no match for the Paradigm tweeter, the Alpha tweeter needs to be listened to with the grills on. The bass on the Paradigm v5 seems to be not quite as detailed as the bass on the Alpha, but the bass notes have quick starts and stops, with less bloom within the box, and as a result making it sound more lightweight. Bass is something that Paradigm claims that they took into consideration with the v6, but I haven't heard the new model. My preference of the 2 speakers go to the Atom due to the more realistic voice, and the space that the musicians occupy can be heard.

In any case, I don't recall being distracted by sibilants from any one of these speakers, and I highly doubt that the clean Atom tweeter will give you any problems.
