Widely-known does not make the person right either, especially when it comes to hifi journalists since most are definately not technology savvy. In this particular case, there are pictures that clearly support what I wrote, and to make things worse, the pictures come from your source! Look at the nice pictures from the Ultra Audio factory tour on March 30, 2011, and in particular the ones in the drivers section. If you ever had a Morel or Scan Speak between your hands, you will recognize these assemblies. Magico machines the backplate for the Scan Speak tweeter out of aluminum. That your journalists writes "You won't see variants of these drivers in any other company's loudspeakers" is rather funny. The speaker technology is still Scan Speak's. The AirCirc design is specific, clever and easily identifiable. You can see the back of a tweeter on the Ultra Audio pictures (bottom right) and you you can compare it to that of the the D3004 aircirc on speakerdesign. Some of the previous Magico speakers used ATD, Aurasound, and even ALE.
Edit: corrected date of factory tour
