However, the two tweeters are not overlapping since their frequency response is limited within the crossover. The ribbon acts like a supertweeter, not as just a second tweeter.
The midrange was found to be the best in this application, read on the website how he reached that conclusion. The fact that it's cheaper than others doesn't invalidate how they sound. And it's not stock, it's modified. Wilson's 130K speaker uses an inverted titanium tweeter worth $20, that doesn't mean anything.What you're describing is freq response in one particular room. Your friend who invested in a $30K VR-7 pair could very well spend an additional 1K to correct room aberations so it can finally please your tester. And BTW, these speakers were not designed for close range auditions. Very few are, actually.
