I've never heard Tyler speakers but I've read several posts of fellow philes who don't like them so obviously I must be qualified to say that they suck per your logic.
"I mean look at the cabs, cheap stuff that you have to add lead shot to make them somewhat inert."
Actually it's quite an effective design both in cost and utilization and still enjoys the benefits of extremely good damping by adding some sand, lead shot or both which makes for far lower costing speaker than one designed with the same effective damping, not to mention the difficulty of portability and cost of shipping.
