Your statements provide compelling support that current Ohm Speakers are not omni directional.

I own both the Ohm F and the Ohm Walsh 2. I have also spoken to Ohm president John Stohbeen about this very issue. Latter day Ohm speakers have omni-like “characteristics” but in no way are they an “omni” (for better or worse).

An omni directional speaker design radiates (or should strive to radiate) equally in all directions (on the horizontal plane). Current Ohm speakers are a two-way system that employs a substantially fettered Walsh driver that, as modified, does not and cannot radiate an omni directional pattern. The point of obstructing, substantially, the back wave of the Walsh driver is to unmistakably preclude omni directional radiation. Ohm’s Website says of the Accoustical Attenuator: “Significantly reduces rear output……." My personal experience finds this to be true (just checked my Walsh 2).

And if that does not disqualify current Ohm speakers from being “an omni”, that the Walsh driver is crossed over at about 7 khz to a conventional (directional tweeter) seals the deal. So, you have a two-way speaker system with neither driver in that system being omni directional, even more notably above 7KHz.

Due to its unusually wide dispersion characteristics I would not label the Ohm speakers “direct radiators”. But an omni directional speaker or “omni” it is not.
