Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Vintage speaker I.D.

You can find EIA speaker codes in two places that I know of:
http://www.triodeel.com/eiacode.htm
http://www.webervst.com/morecode.html
According to them, 433 is Cleveland (never heard of them), while 423 is Norelco, or North American Philips. Given your description, the speaker probably wouldn't handle much more power than the 12 watts the HF-12 (neat how that works out) can give it.
If I had to guess, the PM might stand for "permanent magnet" as opposed to the field coil or transformer driven speakers of the radios from the 30's and 40's.

good luck
