Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Don't laugh.
It was a Celestion SL 600si (something like that). When I first heard them I fell in love. When I finally broke down and decided to buy I listened again (in another store) and was not so impressed. I went from store to store wondering why. I finally went back to the original store in Boston MA and found the answer. The difference was in the electronics folks were using. That was probably 10 years ago.

I still liked them alot. I guess my favorites aren't as expensive as what other folks have listed. Here's my list.
Celestion SL 600si
Magneplanar MG1.6
Revel F50 (F30 too)
The old Snells (I forget the model)
The Meridieans with the digital input. (Ok, one set of expensive speakers here. Very nice though)
Vanderstein 2c (i or e I forget)
Martin Logan (I forget which model but even though the bass was weird, everything else was nice).

You can probably guess that I've owned all of these but the Meriedians. I've also owned a bunch of lesser models from Tweeter from Dhalquist, Polk, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch, Infinity, and a few others I have forgotten about.

Bill
