Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I agree on most of your points.....

I have Vandy 1Cs that I use with a MF A3.2 and they are
GREAT...well to me anyway. They seem to do very well
with all types of music. I recently hooked them up to
a vintage Dynaco tube amp with great results as well.
As expected vocals and certain instruments were a
little more detailed and sweeter. But the old dynaco
(17 watts per channel) could not keep up with my
SS amp for bass and power when rocking out. But this was
not great surprise. I believe that the Vandys will do well
with SS and tube amps. And laikadog is CORRECT!! Room
placement is everything to a Vandy speaker. You have to
experiment and use their manual to get the sound you
are searching for. To get the Vandys to perform correctly
in most applications you will have to place them at
a couple feet from the back wall. This is my experience
anyway. But, if at all possible do audition both before
buying.

Good Luck,

Bill
